French Possession: Music

Buckingham Palace Road

(French Possession)
November 9, 2012
Steve Jones
His girfriend prefers his best friend. He decides to leave and walks from Chelsea towards Victoria station. He sees the irony of the road he is on and tries to trivialise his problem. Sadly, the news had prompted him to escape reality by overindulgence ... drink, drugs ... what ever was around. As the impact kicks in, he wonders whether he's heading in the right direction. What's the point in going 'away from' when there's nothing to go 'to'? He turns and walks back to the bridge and sees the further irony - passers by watching him, just like they do the changing of the guard. And he, like the guards, ignores them ...
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Near where a river flowed
So many dreams implode
A difficult day as I make my way
On Buckingham Palace Road
And I don't want to make you cry
Today or ever in your life
But it seems very clear
I'm not needed here
And it cuts me up like a knife
If I'm going away too soon where's the crime?
Its just another changing of the guard
Happens all the time
Eyes right
Ignore the passers by
A simple changing of the guard
Tell him I said 'hi'
Chemical overload
Breaking the green cross code
A beautiful day as I lose my way
On Buckingham Palace Road
And I don't want to say goodbye
But who wants to be just friends?
Its an option I know - you told me so
So here's where the story ends
If I'm going away too soon where's the crime?
Its just another changing of the guard
Happens all the time
Eyes right
Ignore the passers by
A simple changing of the guard ...
Eyes right
Ignore the passers by
Eyes right
I'll love you til I die
Eyes right
Remember not to cry
Its just another changing of the guard
Tell him I said 'hi' ...
Tell him I said 'hi'
